What Skyrim Might Look Like With Modern Quest Design

This satirical video imagines how the classic RPG Skyrim would be redesigned if it were released in 2026, focusing on the modern gaming trend of excessive hand-holding. The clip parodies current quest design by displaying constant, intrusive on-screen objectives that guide the player through simple environmental puzzles step-by-step. By mocking the inclusion of explicit instructions like 'Match The Statues' and 'Pull the Lever,' the video highlights a common critique among veteran players who feel that modern games have sacrificed exploration and player agency in favor of streamlined, simplified experiences that ensure no player gets lost or confused.

i hate how accurate it is. though you forgot the glowing quest markers on the stones and the riddle solving itself if you dont touch the things for long enough. 8/10 "game of the year" - IGN

That's how Skyrim felt back in the day going from morrowind's "go east from the village until the river, then follow the river north until you see the cave" to "hurr durr go to ever present quest marker because there isn't even a description of needed location, then rotate these

If it was made in 2026, the goal would be "Pull the lever" and there would be a arrow above the lever or the lever would be highlighted. Having to actually turn the stones would be for a hard ass game that actually tries to make itself a decent experience.

'Am i gonna have to turn off coms' is funny because you cannot. They modded in the ability to mute coms but Nexus removed it for being offensive. Something about 'silencing women in games' or something
