Well, the Dachshund is a hunting dog, a 'Badger Dog' Bred to drive badgers out of their burrow. Since the hunter cant follow the dog in to burrow, the Dachshund is bred to hunt on its own. They are well know to be stubborn and brave bordering on suicidal.
