A Comic Strip Comparing Sports and Chess Divisions
This four-panel comic strip features a conversation between a child and a parent regarding the structure of competitive divisions. The dialogue begins with the child asking why women have a separate division in basketball, to which the parent replies that it is to account for physical differences. The conversation then shifts to the topic of competitive chess, with the child questioning why a similar separation exists in a game that does not rely on physical strength. The comic highlights the ongoing public debate regarding gender-based categories in various competitive fields.

tis moron gets dumber by the day.
Have you seen the requirements to become a woman grand master? It's literally a joke in comparison by a decent skill level. We are talking about 2300 vs 2500 elo. Currently we have exactly 11 female players which are above 2500 elo BUT!!! some of them don't even meet the performa
Snooker too!
The reason is plain and simple statistics. Fewer women get into chess in the first place, aren't trained on nearly the same level and have fewer playing opportunities. Mostly social factors. But this combined produces significantly fewer outliers who would place in the top ranks
There have been a handful of great female chess players, but like most sports, it is dominated by male athletes. The same is true for E-Sports. I'm not sure if it's reaction time, quicker thought process, or if women lack that ultra competitive nature that almost every man seems
Because there are a lot less women in chess so by sheer numbers they would never get anywhere near the top. That's what I've been told anyway. Too lazy to confirm at the moment... *Spidermans away*
Same reason. Every time a mixte professionnal chess tournament was attempted, male constestants wiped the floor with female constetant.
It is a bit different. Chess tournaments do have two classes. Open and Woman. There are only a few Woman who Play the Open tournament Like Judith polgar.
Judit Polgar: She beat Kasparov when he was reigning world champion. She has beaten these other world champions: Magnus Carlsen, Anatoly Karpov, Vladimir Kramnik, Boris Spassky, Vasily Smyslov, Veselin Topalov, Viswanathan Anand, Ruslan Ponomariov, Alexander Khalifman
