I can't see flying cars ever becoming real. People are too stupid for this to become real. Staying on the ground is already too much for many.
Just a publicity stunt - only a few seconds of flight time. But imagine what would happen if it were possible to have flying cars when half the people on the road (not you or me, obviously) can barely drive in a straight line - they would have to be fully autonomous.
