Seems like he got to comfortable around dangerous animals and paid the ultimate price for it. Should have known better not to swim up on it from behind and over the top of it. loved watching him back in the day and still hurts he is no longer with us.
I was in basic training when Drill Sergeant broke the news to us. Took off his hat - a big thing for drill sergeants - and told usnall Steve died filming. Put the hat back on, and then promptly smoked us to take our minds off of it and of course because it was basic training.
Steve Irwin died a horrible death and I think it was worse than what was described here. He had the fortitude to approach any and every animal and accepted that something may go wrong. An adventure through and through until the very end
He died doing what he loved.
He's still in our hearts.
