Meet Leopardus tilcayo: The First New Cat Species Discovered in a Century
National Geographic reports on the discovery of a new small cat species, Leopardus tilcayo, marking the first such finding in 100 years. This spotted tiger cat, native to Bolivia, was identified through scientific research, with a 10-year-old male serving as the first known specimen. Measuring approximately 18 inches from head to body, this discovery suggests that there may be a larger wave of undocumented small cat species waiting to be identified. The find highlights the ongoing efforts of researchers to categorize biodiversity in remote regions.

A family from Bolivia adopted this " cat" thinking it was a domestic one , they lived toghether 1 year aprox . but then they noticed a strong savage/predator behaviour ..pretty diff from a domestic cat. ( ate other little animals etc) And also a different "meow" sound . Idk how o
And by "new" they mean they've recently learned to separate it from another very similar cat species.
