The Dark Humor of Titanic's Infamous Propeller Scene
This meme uses a split-screen reaction image featuring Tobey Maguire to highlight a specific, controversial moment in the 1997 film Titanic. While the movie is largely a tragic romance, the scene where a passenger falls from the sinking ship and strikes the ship's propeller has become a notorious point of dark humor for many viewers. The meme contrasts the emotional weight of the film with the unexpected, slapstick-like nature of that particular visual effect, capturing the conflicting reactions some audience members experience during the high-stakes disaster sequence.

You're watching 3hr long shitty romantic movie for 1s scene?
I find this funnier.
Everyone could hear me laugh in the cinema when that shit happened. And during the whole d-day landing scene in Saving Private Ryan too (I just love it and will laugh when a gruesome scene is executed brilliantly, no disrespect to the victims)
Propeller? Must be Titanic 2: Pearl Harbour Drift.
Anyone seen the movie the pianist and burst out loud laughing when the old guy in the wheelchail got kicket out the building?
My girlfriend at the time forced me to see this shitty movie, and I laughed so loudly in the cinema, and I was the only one, and I got a rib kick for it. But I'll never forget it.
Not sure who suggested in what meeting that this was absolutely necessary to put in the movie. But he’s a genius.
Actually happened. One of the survivors who were interviewed in the 60s or something described seeing a person jumping off and hitting the propeller
I have never seen this movie
Not the most iconic propeller scene.
