i remember trying this with an old tablet during a shop class back in high school because i lost my visor. it worked for exactly ten seconds before the lens got pitted and i just ended up having to borrow one from the teacher anyway.

Camera has only one lense while you have two eyes. So beter uses your eyes.
Camera lens are fucked, most of those sparks are molten metal pieces flying everywhere, one lands on the screen and it's fucked too, could fuck up the electronics and battery too. It's mutch better to use the old school hand held shield with the darkened glass, last time i ordere

I mean, protects the eyes but nothing else. Also no DIN effect so difficult to see weld pool. Also the feet, hand and some other parts will be blasted with UV, but evidently he doesn't care about that. Also flying sparks and metal blobs might hit body parts, but evidently he does

Strong UV will kill camera CCD sooner or later. Funny but cheap polycarbonate lens has better UV filtering than glass, so a cheap phone may last for long. But a welding mask gives you two free hands and cheaper than a phone.
Your camera lens will suffer but it's better than having eye issues for the rest of your life
