Visual Comparison: The Evolution of Pickup Truck Design vs. The Decline of the Roman Empire
This image presents a side-by-side comparison illustrating a trend of reduction. The top portion displays a chart tracking the changing proportions of pickup trucks from 1961 to 2021, showing a steady increase in cabin size (from 36% to 63%) and a corresponding decrease in cargo bed space (from 64% to 37%). Below this, the image shows the spines of a multi-volume set of 'The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire,' where the gold-embossed pillar artwork on each book progressively crumbles and diminishes in height from volume one to volume seven. Together, the two visuals create a humorous commentary on the perceived decline or shift in utility of modern vehicle design.

The government legislated big cars out of existence so the manufactures made trucks more like cars. First availability of factory AC in a truck was 1973 right when the first heavy regulations hit.
You understand why? You can still get full sized Utes. But it’s only for tradies. Most of the duel cab Utes are owned by women and have canopies on the back, essentially making them giant station wagons. People want station wagons! Bring back the mighty shaggin’ wagons!!
Plenty of room in mine. If I need bigger, I have a F450 as well.
1997-2003
Functional versus fashion.
Yeah, because Trucks are not about hauling anymore. They are used as normal cars. Theo only reason why they still have a bed are tax/regulations aka money for the companies
it's not like you use your pickups for hauling everyday. better to complain in 9gag than to find another vehicle for your needs if cargo space really mattered to OP..
You can still buy a 2 door with an 8 foot bed
The last car has four doors...
if they find a way to enclose the trunk they will discover the sedan
