Tugboat Assists Cargo Ship in Panama Canal Lock
A tugboat maneuvers alongside the OOCL Utah cargo ship as it navigates through a lock in the Panama Canal. Tugboats are essential in these narrow waterways, providing the necessary force to guide and control massive vessels, preventing them from colliding with the concrete jetty walls. The footage highlights the precision required in maritime operations, where even a slight miscalculation in speed or positioning could lead to significant structural damage to both the ship and the canal infrastructure.

Careful, He's a hero.
"That little boat" Those tug boats are strong AF, they're meant to manhandle cargo ships.
Pshhh.. Not a single person dove in to try to stop it. Shaking my head...
hero little tugboat
I'm not familiar with this scenario, was this an averted disaster with relatively minimal damage or much more serious?
Takes a little more than fifty feet to slow down a ship.
This guy lol
Captain here: Canal pilot (not the OOCL ship’s captain) brought the vessel in with no “delta” tug assistance to stop it [did not wait for rear tug]. The forward “alpha” tug can do fuck-all to help stop and nearly got crushed between the containership and the Agua Clara lock gate.
Tug just saved about a few million, if the dick touches the jetty it's a drydock repair.
what are you doing step cargo ship?
