New Open-Source 'Craft' Suite Aims to Replace Adobe Creative Cloud
A new collection of open-source software, collectively referred to as the 'Craft' suite, has been introduced as a clean-room alternative to Adobe's industry-standard tools. Built using the Rust programming language with assistance from AI, the suite includes PhotoCraft, VectorCraft, FilmCraft, LightCraft, EffectCraft, DesignCraft, and PrintCraft, designed to mirror the functionality of Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, After Effects, InDesign, and Acrobat Pro. These applications are released under MIT/Apache licenses and are compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux. The project highlights an ongoing effort to provide free, community-driven alternatives to subscription-based creative software, though the reliance on AI-assisted development has sparked debate regarding the quality and long-term viability of these tools compared to established professional software.
Vibe-coded slop that is.
I just tried Lightcraft on Linux. Honestly it does the job faster than Lightroom on windows 11 for me. It does crash every 10 min but the performance is so much better that i am still faster overall. And i dont need to use windows which is really nice :)
word, excel, power point and autocad alternates too!
WarCraft --> War
why am I not suprised that Stonetoss is an AI shill...
AI gave us AI generated ads of AI generated mobile games narrated by AI generated voice. I’d rather die than ever use AI, it’s a fucking abomination
GIMP, inkscape, etc are also free and miles better than this bullshit.
@guysitsover PhotoCraft, VectorCraft, and a prayer that the client doesn't zoom in
There's been open source versions of these long before AI was a thing.
Saw a video of a guy testing all of them. Dude zoomed into a part of a picture and adope showed it sharp and the Craft version was pixelated as fuck.
