The Evolution of the Software Engineering Learning Path in the Age of AI
This infographic illustrates the traditional, steep learning curve for software engineers, which begins with foundational subjects like mathematics, C/C++, and data structures. The path continues through complex topics such as networking, cloud infrastructure, and microservices. At the peak of this progression, the engineer reaches a point of professional mastery. However, the chart depicts a sharp, immediate decline following the emergence of the 'AI Era,' represented by tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and GitHub Copilot. The visual suggests a satirical take on how generative artificial intelligence is disrupting the long-standing educational requirements and career trajectories within the IT sector.

in before "AI code is shit", no it's not, it's better than yours if you know how to prompt it half decently. Been coding fro 20+ years, now any LLM can code better and faster than me so I'm moving up to AI Master and doing more stuff.
IT sector is cooked indeed because of AI, but not the way you think. Everything turns to garbage trash quality because of it and noone knows how to do anything properly anymore.
A year ago I thought AI would never replace my job. Today, my colleagues and me are outputting more features than ever, we also spend more time at the coffee machine than ever ... I'm sure that within 5 years the my company can reduce the amount of developers to 5, from 50 today
I dunno man, AI gave me the lower to build stuff I couldn't before: - it helped me set up a Kubernetes cluster using gitops, flux, fully secure. - it helped me train machine learning models that solve real production issues in hours instead of months learning - it builds me tools
Just wait until all the boomers that know COBOL either retire or die. Then the banking system is fucked
If that's how much you value math, you're not a good engineer—you're just one of the many, many average engineers who more or less muddle through their professional lives. Mathematics is the most central aspect of everything in engineering.
You forgot HTML, here is the logo
Meanwhile AI "whoops my mistake, you're right, that string of code couldn't possibly work"
that is not an engineer, this is a software developer.
C++ is below Java? Heresy
