A Homemade Batch of Fermented Pickles and Green Tomatoes
This image showcases a classic home-preservation project featuring two large glass jars filled with brine-cured vegetables. The jar on the left contains traditional cucumbers, while the jar on the right is packed with green tomatoes. Both jars are prepared with fresh dill, sliced garlic cloves, and peppercorns, which are common ingredients for lacto-fermentation or pickling. The setup reflects a traditional method of preserving seasonal produce, often practiced in various European culinary cultures. Alongside the jars, a bottle of Vöslauer mineral water and a can of Puntigamer beer are visible, suggesting a casual kitchen setting where these fermented staples are prepared.

Botulism, yummy
Puntigama lustig sama!
OP the tomatoes version, do you put inside dill, garlic, pepper, and let ferementate, or do you make sugar-vingerd brine, and sterilise it?
Is is Bavarian? Pickled green tomatoes are also mediterrenean. I like them

Dill pickled tomatoes on the right. Garlic suggests russian style. OP is probably from eastern germany or has parents who lived in the DDR.
Pickles. The stuff of dreams. The father of a dear friend of mine is Romanian, and his pickles are legendary. It's always a happy day when I get a jar of them.
What’s on the jar on the right
Hehe same
i make this stuff sometimes. Good source of probiotics, better than yogurt even.
