Social Media Post Sparks Debate Over Cast Iron Pan Maintenance
A viral social media exchange highlights the controversial practice of cleaning cast iron cookware. The original post features a person using steel wool to scrub what they describe as a 'gross old' cast iron pan inherited from a boyfriend's grandmother. The action prompted a swift reply from another user suggesting that such aggressive cleaning methods could lead to the end of the relationship. The images show the pan before and during the scrubbing process, sparking a wider discussion about the proper care, seasoning, and maintenance of cast iron kitchenware, as well as the differing opinions on whether such pans should be deeply scoured or preserved.

Better do it with sandpaper!
mfer that pan is red, that's rust not polymer
Probably uses her teeth when she shouldn't.
I fry my eggs on cast iron and that bottom had better be pretty clean or I'll break my yokes. most incels here are plain afraid of females.
Somehow people believe that carbon buildup is adding flavor to the dishes. Just clean it and once in a while season it again.
why do people keep posting these shit posts with random unfunny comments from twitter or whatever. I have never seen a 9gag screenshot like that.
Modern soaps do not contain lye. So yes.. they’re okay to use on cast iron.
"The seasoning" is polymerized oil. It should be a 200 micron blueish layer not a cancerous carbon valley.
I've seen some of ya'lls "seasoned" pans. That's not seasoning. That's fucking carbon build up. Also, your "seasoned" pan, shouldn't rust.
Reseasoning that pan is easy. Finding a girlfriend who cleans without being asked is a bit more difficult.
