Why Climbing a Tree Won't Save You From a Bear
This video serves as a stark reminder that climbing a tree is not an effective way to escape a bear. The footage captures a bear effortlessly scaling a tall, thin tree in a forest setting while being pursued by barking dogs on the ground. The bear demonstrates significant agility, moving vertically up the trunk with ease, which contradicts the common belief that trees provide a safe refuge from these animals. The clip highlights the natural climbing capabilities of bears, showing how quickly they can reach high branches when motivated.
not even chimps would run away up a tree from this bear.
Poor bear
Black bears represent 13% of the population but commit 53% of violent bear crimes.
that's a black bear. they can climb. however brown bears cannot climb with any efficacy. if it's a brown bear, shoot it. if it's a black bear shoot it. don't be a stupid hippie and go into the woods unarmed. you are NOT at the top of the food chain out there.
Black bears can climb trees, but that's usually just to get away from you. A brown bear will chase you to a tree, and either try to shake you off or give up.
The dogs are lucky the bear is intimidated by their sound. If he was a bit cranky they would be lunch
If it's a grizzly or brown bear then yes you can climb a tree and escape....till they shake you out of it and then kill you, black ones just climb up after you and kill you.
Yeah you absolutely can. Only black bears climb trees as adults, also unlike brown or grizzly bears, black ones will attack humans only in extreme cases, usually they just run away. I've seen Americans say that black bears are essentially just really big racoons.
And what the fuck does this cheerful guitar have to do with a poor bear running for its life?
I knew they could climb. However i did not know they could RUN vertically.
