This was researched by scientists in iceland a while back, the fracking is a really bad idea, no matter how you look at it. I dont support this form of energy capture. But i guess Americans are used to having poisonous water and gas coming out of their pipes

Geothermal power has a lot of positive features, but it is not endless energy. As you "produce" heat from underground rocks, they will eventually get colder. It requires T > 150°C to be economic. Those horizontal wells and the following fracking are not cheap.
