Historical Photograph Often Attributed to the Last Queen of Mongolia - Interesting on Aviaclip

This black-and-white photograph features a woman in elaborate traditional attire, including a prominent, wide-brimmed headdress and intricate robes. Text overlaid on the image identifies the subject as the 'last Queen of Mongolia (1930).' While this image has been widely circulated and associated with Queen Genepil of Mongolia for decades, its historical accuracy remains a subject of debate among historians and researchers. The subject's striking appearance and unique hairstyle have frequently drawn comparisons in popular culture to the aesthetic of Queen Amidala from the Star Wars film franchise.

Had to fact check this. This isn’t Queen Genepil of Mongolia. There was one. And it’s an interesting story. But this photograph isn’t of her. It’s been associated with her for decades. But it’s not actually her. The woman’s identity unknown.

Well, now I know where George Lucas got his inspiration for Queen Amidala's hairstyle.
