Man Returns $7.5 Million Found in Storage Unit for $1.2 Million Settlement

Man Returns $7.5 Million Found in Storage Unit for $1.2 Million Settlement - Interesting on Aviaclip

A man who purchased a storage unit for $500 in 2018 discovered $7.5 million in cash hidden inside. Instead of keeping the entire fortune, he contacted the original owner. The two parties eventually reached a settlement agreement, with the finder receiving $1.2 million in exchange for returning the unit and the remaining cash. The story, which features Dan Dotson of Storage Wars fame in the accompanying imagery, highlights an unusual case of honesty regarding a massive, unexpected windfall found in a secondary market purchase.

this was not done out of goodness this was done out of pragmatism. Simply keeping the money is not so simple when the tax man comes sniffing around. There are way too many ways that this can go wrong but what he did was get legal advice from a lawyer and work from there. How do I

Sounds like total BS. Only criminals hide money money in storage units. The govenment would have simply confiscated the money and went after tge previous owner for tax fraud at least. What kind of court could settle this?

"Gee, I'd love to pay my storage unit rent, but I can't remember where I put that $7.5 million."
