My first thought was: this person must be living in some really shitty country.
I'm a dentist, and luckily I work in the public sector. The vast majority of my patients don't pay a dime, and those who do only pay a slightly below 25% deductible. It feels good to just help people, and not have to slam them with a hefty invoice afterwards.

Portuguese here: Despite having dental/ eye/ psychology appointments in the public healthcare, people go to private because the long waiting. In some cases, years!
