The Problem With Modern HD Remakes
This meme illustrates a common criticism of modern video game remakes, where the addition of high-definition graphics and increased lighting can inadvertently ruin the atmosphere of the original game. In the 'Original' panel, heavy shadows and darkness create a sense of mystery and tension as a character encounters a monster. In the 'HD Remake' panel, the scene is fully lit, removing the suspense and revealing the character and creature designs in a way that some players feel diminishes the intended artistic vision. The comparison highlights the ongoing debate between prioritizing graphical fidelity over the original art style and environmental design.

Artstyle more important than graphic.
Gears of war...
Which game fucker op?
But now the raytracing on the eyes can show the reflection of the surroundings!
this gives me ds remastered vibes, i know the original port had lots of flaws, but what they did to the graphics was shameful
Hot take but I hate the new Ocarina of time look. And I never played original but I'm well familiar with it and I'm not against updating old games but new Zelda looks like an AI slop. Link looks like AI render and everything is so "realistically fake"
Only partially correct: Sometimes game designers use the darkness to just hide how garbage the graphics would look if clearly be seen.
true
Fidelity does not make the game better. Limitations drove innovation and without limitations all we get is slop.
Probably because they just slap it into UE5 and sell it as is...
