Microsoft Patents System to Inject Ads into Video Games - Technology on Aviaclip

A recent report from Tom's Hardware highlights a patent filed by Microsoft for a system designed to pause video games during downtime to display advertisements. According to the patent, players could potentially earn credits for ad-free playtime by watching these commercials. This development has sparked significant discussion regarding the future of monetization in gaming, particularly concerning how companies might integrate advertising into interactive experiences. While the filing of a patent does not guarantee that a feature will be implemented in future products, it provides insight into potential strategies being explored by major industry players for managing game-related content and user engagement.

here's how the article goes on. either way, fuck ads so I either don't play that "free" (costs your soul, spare time, etc.) game or if such cancer reaches purchased titles too, pirate stuff and that's it.

Fuck that! I'm filling my hard drives with older games and hope for the best. The new "AAA" games that are actually good are too few these days anyway. But the older games that we continuously come back to must be protected at all cost, like heroes of might and magic 3, gothic, d

Lord Gaben single handedly saving PC gamers while console gamers getting cucked by retarded ceos. GG.

the_omarNewcomerSep 21, 2026

Yeah a few titles have tried and gaben literally had to issue a whole policy. Games with ads in them cannot be sold on steam. We don't hate these greedy motherfuckers enough.
