How to Convert Baking Soda into Washing Soda for Heavy-Duty Cleaning

This video demonstrates a DIY chemical process to create washing soda, which has a higher pH (11) than standard baking soda, making it more effective for cleaning stubborn, polymerized grease from cookware. The creator explains that by baking standard baking soda at 350°F for 30 minutes, it undergoes a chemical change. The resulting powder is then combined with dish soap and hydrogen peroxide to create a potent cleaning solution designed to break down tough, non-stick residues that regular soap cannot remove. The video serves as a practical guide for those looking to utilize basic household chemistry to restore the surface of their kitchen pans.

Jsut use a dishwasher detergent . It has all the stuff inside - washing soda, percarbonate (=releases hydrogen peroxide), detergent and as a bonus some other stuff like enzymes to break down stuff. Just use gloves as it is quite aggresive for hand washing.

You know, you can do what he says. It's bullshit. It takes you a long time to produce and all that, or you just simply put, after you use a real steel pan, ice cubes in it, and then you scrub fast as long as the ice cubes are dissolving in the super hot heat. Finished. That's how

Gives instructions to use: 1. Dish soap 2. Washing soda 3. Warm water Demonstrates using: 1. Dish soap 2. Washing soda 3. Hydrogen peroxide Basically: "Here is how you make this thing that has nothing to do with what I'm about to demonstrate".

So you could buy washing soda instead of baking soda and spare your oven from accidents

Polymers are plastic. Burnt residue is carbon. Surfactants do not pull grease like a magnet, it acts as an emulsifier to physically wash grease away with water. This is just "how to play chemist".
