How Director Joe Dante Got Revenge on Film Critic Leonard Maltin

In the scene, Maltin appears on a television program to reiterate his harsh critique of the first movie, only to be swarmed and attacked by a group of gremlins. As the creatures overwhelm him, Maltin comically retracts his previous opinion, shouting, "I was just kidding! It's a ten! A ten!" This meta-moment serves as a classic example of a filmmaker poking fun at their own critics by incorporating them directly into the fictional world of the sequel.
