A viral post from the r/confession subreddit features an individual detailing how they sabotaged their former apartment's plumbing system due to ongoing conflicts with their landlord. Before vacating the premises, the tenant cut into a wall to install a hidden shutoff valve on the copper water line. After turning off the water supply, they patched and repainted the wall to conceal the modification. The author claims that the alteration is completely invisible, leaving the landlord unable to provide water to the unit for future tenants until the source of the blockage is discovered and repaired.
Because once they find it absolutely nobody would be able to make this connection that the previous tenant would have installed this valve that definitely wasn't there before...
The landlord may be an asshole but the OP is an even bigger asshole imo. The rent culture where I live assumes that you'll fix whatever damages you've caused and be as nice as possible. Because the place isn't yours.
I do applaud your intent and success, you are correct, they are literally dead in the water till resolved. isolating where in the line it is becomes fairly simple though, however, they will likely rip out half the wall to locate the mod, and then continued downtime for repainting

Nope. I'd see new paint in my wet wall. I'd also just run a snake through the water line and find the depth of the cutoff. Have it resolved before lunch with full documentation for a small claims suit

While I sriously doubt any of this post is true (except the shitty landlord), just in case... Once they determine what happened, you'll be liable for any expenses incurred in the process of restoring the service. That will include the investigation, demolition, the actual repair,
They'll send a camera up the pipe and see an unexpected valve... Then they will probably inform the police.
